Notice: Gopher Control On April 10 & 16, 1-3:30 pm, Public Works will conduct gopher control using small-caliber firearms at the ball diamonds east of the Palestre arena and empty lots south of Somerset. Safety protocol details: Only Town of Gravelbourg staff with PAL will participate Crew members will take turns spotting Staff will wear high-visibility vests and required PPE Firearms will be .22 calibre or lower A marked Town of Gravelbourg vehicle will be on site The Town has notified the RCMP of the event dates & times The Town is implementing gopher control to protect and preserve our green spaces. We ask the public to stay clear of the ball diamonds and the empty lots south of Somerset while Town staff are working. Keep pets and children away.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Background: In July 2023, Council carefully considered several gopher control methods, including poison bait and carbon monoxide gas. The targeted use of firearms by trained Town personnel avoids the risks associated with poison and is more effective in open areas.
